The Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill, 2017.

A Bill to consolidate the laws relating to admiralty jurisdiction legal proceedings in connection with vessels, their arrest, detention, sale and other matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017.

The Bill as passed by Lok Sabha was laid on the Table of Rajya Sabha on 29.03.2017.

 

The Bill envisages incorporation of the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at   Tirupati and Berhampur at SI. Nos. 6 and 7 of the Second Schedule to the NITSER Act, 2007.

The Footwear Design and Development Institute Bill, 2017.

 

The Bill as passed by Lok Sabha was laid on the Table of Rajya Sabha on 05.4.2017.

To establish and declare the Footwear Design  and Development Institute as an institution of national importance for the promotion and development of quality and excellence in education, research and training in all disciplines relating to footwear and leather products design and development and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017

The Bill as passed by Lok Sabha was laid on the Table of Rajya Sabha on 10.4.2017.

To amend certain provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 for strengthening public transport, safeguarding, Good Samaritans, enhancing customer care facility, enhancement of penalties etc.

To declare the existing 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIM)  to be Institutions of National Importance trough  a Central Legislation so as to confer them statutory status and award competence, to award degrees to students who passed out from IIMs.

The Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2017 

 

Introduced on 27.03.2017.

To provide for inclusion of Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool alongwith other IITs and to declare IIITDM Kurnool as an institute of national importance.

5.        

The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2017

 

Introduced in Lok Sabha on 10.04.2017

 

To extend the period to 31st march, 2020 to facilitate training of all in Service untrained teachers.

6.        

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Amendment) Bill, 2017

Introduced in Lok Sabha on 05.04.2017

 

(a)     To transfer the 0.4% shares of RBI in NABARD to the government of India.

(b)     To increase the authorised capital of NABARD.

(c)    To enable development of new credit products, new credit linkage and new clients.

To amend the definition of illegal migrant, reduction in the number of years of residency period to obtain Indian Citizenship through naturalization and to empower Central Govt. to cancel the registration of Overseas Citizen of India card in case of and Violations.

The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (Amendment) Bill, 2017

 

To harmonize the exiting conflict between the provisions of sub section (3) and sub-section (4) of Section 20A of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and remains Act, 1958 as amended in the year 2010.  This will pave the way to carry out certain construction limited strictly to public works and projects essential to public within prohibited area of centrally protected monument by any Department or Office of Central Government.

The Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FRDI)                Bill, 2017

To establish a framework to carry out the resolution of certain categories of financial service providers in distress, to provide deposit insurance to consumers of certain categories of financial services and for designation of Systemically Important Financial Institutions by the Central Government for resolution; the above legal framework will enable to establish a corporation with the objective of protecting consumers of covered service providers and public funds to the extent possible thereby contributing to the stability and salience of the financial system and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) Bill, 2017

 

Establishment of Indian Institute of Petroleum  and Energy at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh as per the Thirteenth Schedule of the Andhra Pradesh  Re-Organisation Act, 2014 (6 of 2014).

9.        

The Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property Amendment Bill, 2017

 

To amend Section 7 of the RAIP Act, 1952 to ensure (i) payment of compensation to the land owners as on the original date of publication notice of acquisition (Form j) that has been challenged and quashed by the Courts, (ii) payment of interest at the prevailing are of interest payable by the State Bank of India on domestic fixed deposits, from the original date of notification till the date of payment of compensation to compensate for appreciation in the market value of the land, and (iii) acquired only for national security and defence purpose.

National Investigation Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2017

The Amendments proposed in the NIA Act, 2008, inter-alia include extra territorial jurisdiction for NIA investigation, simplification of appointment procedure of judges to preside over the NIA Special Courts, use of special techniques for investigation of scheduled offences.

13.     

Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2017

The amendments proposed include rectification of definition of ‘Court’  empowering the DG, NIA to forfeit a property representing proceeds of terrorism in cases of terrorism investigated by it, insertion of a new schedule to the UAPA for listing individual terrorist, insertion of new sub section to empower inspector of  NIA to investigate offence under the UAPA etc.

14.     

The Right of Children Free and Compulsory Education (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017

 

Section 2, 16, and 38 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 are to be amended for providing power to the appropriate government to make rules for detaining a child in class 6, 7 or 8 or in two or all three classes, provided that an additional chance shall be given to the child for passing each class before the child is detained under Section 16 of the RTE Act, 2009.

To amalgamate the following labour laws:-

(i)       The Minimum Wages Act, 1948
