To enact a comprehensive law to contain communal violence in the country and instill a sense of safety and security in the minds of minority communities.

The Foreign Contribution (Regulation)   Bill, 2006

 

Introduced on 18.12.2006

 

The Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs presented on21.10.2008.

 

To repeal the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 and replace that with a new law to regulate the acceptance, utilization and accounting of foreign contribution and acceptance of foreign hospitality.

To provide for the welfare of Labour, and to regulate the conditions of work, in plantations by way of providing suitable provisions in the Bill and simplification and rationalization of procedures.

The Legal Metrology Bill, 2008

The Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution laidon 20.2.2009.

 

To establish the standards of weights & measures and enforcement of weights and measures and related instruments.

10.

The Representation of the People (Second Amendment) Bill, 2008

 

Introduced on 24.10.2008

 

The Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justicepresented on 18.2.2009.

 

To take some need based measures to remove certain loopholes noticed in the existing laws:-

 

(i) simplification of procedure for disqualification of a person found guilty of corrupt practices;

(ii) appointment of appellate authority within the district against the orders of the electoral registration officers;

(iii) increase in security deposit of the candidates;

(iv) inclusion in section 123(7) of  the RP Act, 1951 of all officials appointed in connection with the conduct of elections; and

(v) to restrict the publication and dissemination of exit polls results during phased election.

The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill, 2008

 

Introduced on 15.12.2008

 

The Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development presented on 18.2.2009.

 

To give effect to the Constitution (Eighty-Sixth Amendment) Act, 2002, making free and compulsory education for all children in the age group of 6-14 years a Fundamental Right.

The Constitution (One Hundredth and Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2008

 

Introduced on 6.5.2008

 

The Bill was referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice on 9.5.2008.

 

 

To provide reservation for women in Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly.

 

May be taken up for consideration and passing in case the Report of the Committee on the Bill on its constitution, is laid on the Table of Rajya Sabha.

To amend the State Bank of India (Subsidiary Banks) Act, 1959 mainly dealing with the process of obtaining approval of/consultation with the Central Government in place of the Reserve Bank, pursuant to the changes of ownership in the State Bank.

The State Bank of Saurashtra (Repeal) Bill, 2009

 

To repeal the State Bank of Saurashtra Act, 1950 consequent upon the merger of the State Bank of Saurashtra with the State Bank of India

To create an environment friendly policy for micro-finance services in the country and provide a formal statutory framework for the promotion, development and regulation of Micro Finance Sector.

To amend the Life Insurance Corporation Act, 1956:-

(i) to increase Capital from Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 100 crore.

To notify a class of Securities for the purpose of investment of Trust money by the Trustees in such Securities and deletion of the outdated and obsolete Securities from the Act.

To provide for establishment of the Land Ports Authority of India for the development and management of facilities for cross border movement of passengers and goods at designated points along the international borders of India and for matter connected therewith or incidental thereto.

To include disaster management as part of the overall definition of Civil Defence in the parent Act.

To lead to a more effective utilization of infrastructure of the ESIC as also to meet the medical insurance requirements of the work force in the unorganized sector and bring it in alignment with other labour laws taking into account the changing economic scenario, and ensure effective implementation of the ESI schemes so as to adequately meet the medical insurance requirements of the work force

4. The Bronze Coin (Legal Tender) Act, 1918 into one Act known as the Coinage Act, 2009

(i) To minimize the Government control over and interference in the working of cooperative societies so as to give them a genuine democratic and autonomous character;

1.             Consideration and adoption of the Resolution seeking to constitute a new Railway Convention Committee (Fifteenth Lok Sabha) for determination of ‘Rate of Dividend payable by the Railways to the General Revenues and other ancillary matters.

 

2.             Consideration and adoption of the Resolution seeking approval for disinvestment of NEPA Ltd. in favour of private party.

 

3.         Consideration and adoption of the Resolution seeking approval for disinvestment of majority share in HMT Bearings Ltd. in connection with identifying and inducting a strategic partner for the company as per the decision of CCEA.
