The Bill, as passed by Lok Sabha on 30.4.2008, laid on the Table of the Rajya Sabha on 6.5.2008.

 

The benefits of higher compensation and fifth jurisdiction as provided in the Montreal Convention 1999 will become available to international air passengers to and from India.

The Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill, 2008 - as passed by Lok Sabha.

 

Introduced in Lok Sabha on 5.5.2008.

 

The Bill was passed by Lok Sabha on 23.12.2008.

 

To provide for the establishment of a Fund and crediting thereto the monies received from the user agencies towards compensatory afforestation, additional compensatory afforestation, penal compensatory afforestation, Net Present Value and all other amounts recovered from such agencies under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980; constitution of an Authority for administration of the Fund and to utilise the monies so collected for undertaking artificial regeneration (plantations) assisted natural regeneration, protection of forests, infrastructure development, Green India Programme, wildlife protection and other related activities and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

To provide for statutory Authority to APEDA to register/own and protect the IPRs in specified agricultural products.

The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2008 - as passed by Lok Sabha.

The Bill was passed by Lok Sabha on 23.12.2008.

 

To insert new chapter IVA in the Prevention of Corruption Act, which empowers the special judge to exercise the power of attachment before judgment and also  to provide safeguards to a public servant’s vaxatious prosecution from any bonafide omission or commission in the discharge of his official duties and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

To replace the Central Industrial Security Force (Amendment) Ordinance, 2009  (No. 2 of 2009) promulgated on 10.1.2009

The Bill was referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs on12.1.2009.

 

To allow Government to deploy CISF in Private Sector and Joint Venture undertakings and other matters.

 

May be taken up for consideration and passing in case the Report of the Committee on the bill is presented to the Rajya Sabha.

To empower the Registrar of Trade Marks Registry to deal with international applications, both originating from India and received from Contracting Parties, and prescribe the procedure for dealing with international applications and facilitate the implementation of Protocol obligations.

To replace the High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Amendment Ordinance, 2009 (No. 1 of 2009) promulgated on 9.1.2009.

The Bill was referred to the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justiceon 1.1.2009.

 

 

To increase the salary, pension and family pension payable to the Judges of High Courts and Supreme Court.

The Central Universities Bill, 2009

 

(To replace an Ordinance)

 

To replace the Central Universities Ordinance, 2009 (No. 3 of 2009) promulgated on 15.1.2009.

 

To establish and incorporate Universities for teaching and research in the various States and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

To give effect to the tax proposals for the financial year 2009-10.

3.         

The Delhi Metro Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2009

 

The bill propose to incorporate the following provisions:-

 

(i) to extend its provisions to the National Capital Region;

(ii) to empower the Metro Railway Administration to provide for other transport services for the purpose of facilitating the carriage of passengers or to provide integrated transport services;

(iii) to place the Commissioners of Metro Railway Safety under the administrative control of the Chief Commissioner of the Railway Safety; and

(iv) to provide that the Commissioner shall be deemed to be civil court for the purposes of section 121 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.
